What is nail fungus?

Exactly as the name implies, it is a fungus that grows under your nails, most often your toenails. Nail Fungus infections are unsightly and embarrassing. The infected nails become yellow, thick and hard to cut. As the infection worsens, it can lead to discomfort, pain, or even bad odor. This is different from Athlete’s Foot in which the fungus infects the skin of the feet.
